Lovely is built on a foundation of trust. You are sharing sensitive, personal information about your relationship — and we take that responsibility seriously. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the full control you have over it.

By using Lovely, you agree to the terms described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you create an account and use Lovely, you may provide:

• Your name and email address
• Your partner's name, gender, and relationship details
• Personal information about your partner (interests, preferences, important dates, love language, personality traits)
• Reflections, notes, and responses you share within the app
• Feedback on gesture suggestions (e.g., how a gesture landed)
• Subscription and billing information (processed by our payment provider — Lovely does not store full payment card details)

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the app, we collect certain technical data automatically:

• Device type, operating system, and app version
• App usage patterns (screens visited, features used, session duration)
• Push notification interaction data
• Crash reports and error logs
• IP address and approximate location (country/region level only)

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

• Your partner's personal data directly — all partner information is entered by you
• Financial account numbers or full payment card information
• Precise GPS location
• Contacts, photos, or other device data without your explicit permission

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data only to make Lovely work for you. Specifically:

• To personalize gesture suggestions and AI responses based on your partner's profile
• To send proactive nudges and reminders at times you've enabled
• To improve the accuracy and quality of Lovely's AI engine over time
• To process your subscription and manage your account
• To send you app updates, important notices, and optional product communications
• To diagnose bugs, fix issues, and improve performance
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data to serve ads. Lovely is a subscription product — your data is not our product.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share your data only in limited circumstances:

3.1 Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party providers who help us operate Lovely:

• Firebase (Google) — database and authentication infrastructure
• Anthropic / OpenAI — AI language models that power Lovely's suggestions (data is processed under confidential agreements and not used to train public models)
• RevenueCat — subscription management and billing
• Analytics providers — aggregated, anonymized usage analytics only

All service providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

3.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Lovely, our users, or the public.

3.3 Business Transfers

If Lovely is acquired or merges with another company, your data may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you in advance if this occurs and your rights under this Policy will be maintained.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records.

You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at privacy@getlovely.app.

5. Your Rights and Controls

You have meaningful control over your data within Lovely:

• Access: View all data Lovely has stored about you via your Partner Profile and account settings
• Edit: Update or correct any information at any time
• Delete: Remove any partner information or your entire account
• Export: Request a copy of all your data
• Opt-out: Disable push notifications, nudges, or promotional communications at any time

6. Security

We take security seriously. Lovely implements:

• AES encryption for sensitive data stored locally on your device
• Encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS) for all server communication
• Secure authentication via Firebase with industry-standard practices
• Access controls limiting which team members can access user data

No method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we do our best to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Lovely is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately at privacy@getlovely.app.

8. International Users

Lovely is operated from the United States. If you access the app from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By using Lovely, you consent to this transfer.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you in-app or by email. Your continued use of Lovely after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
